School Counselor 

Employment Options: Part-Time – 21 hours per week
Location: Youngstown, Ohio
Schedule: School Hours (Typically 7 hour days)
School Year / Contract: 2026-2027 School Year
Employment Type: W2 (Benefits Eligible Based on Hours)
Start Date: Late August

Assignment Experience (What You Can Expect)

(When available, PSI shares real assignment details early in the process)

  • Provide counseling support to students across academic, social-emotional, and behavioral domains

  • Exposure to multiple grade levels (PreK-12 opportunities)

  • Collaborative teams including teachers, administrators, and support staff

  • Opportunities to support MTSS / RTI, SEL initiatives, and school-wide programs


Your Impact as a School Counselor

You’ll help students navigate academic, social, and emotional challenges while fostering a positive school environment and supporting whole-child development.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group counseling to students

  • Support academic planning, goal setting, and social-emotional development

  • Collaborate on IEPs, 504 plans, and intervention strategies as appropriate

  • Partner with educators, families, and school staff to support student success

  • Assist with crisis intervention and behavioral support

  • Support school-wide initiatives such as SEL programs and MTSS


What We’re Looking For

  • Master’s degree in School Counseling or related field

  • Valid School Counselor license (state-specific)

  • School-based experience preferred, but newer professionals encouraged to apply — mentorship available

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills

  • Passion for supporting student growth and mental health
