Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) — School-Based Special Needs PRN Substitute Float

 Location: Akron/Canton Area
Schedule: PRN

School Nurse Role Snapshot

  • Provide one-on-one care for medically fragile students

  • Support care in classrooms and during school transportation when required

  • Serve multiple schools within the assigned coverage area

  • Guaranteed 6 hours of pay per day

  • Follow established student care plans and district health protocols

  • PSI clinical support available if questions arise

 


Your Impact as a Nurse in a PSI Supported School

As a Special Needs School Nurse, you help medically fragile students safely attend school and fully participate in their education.

Your care supports student health while providing reassurance to families and school staff.

 


What You’ll Do

  • Provide one-on-one nursing care to medically fragile students

  • Monitor health status and follow established care plans

  • Administer medications and medical interventions per district and PSI policies

  • Provide first aid and respond to student health concerns

  • Maintain detailed health records and documentation

  • Collaborate with teachers, school staff, families, and healthcare providers

  • Ensure confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and FERPA guidelines

 


What We’re Looking For

  • Active Ohio LPN License (Required)

  • Knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality standards

  • Pediatric or school health experience preferred but not required

  • Basic knowledge of medication administration and communicable disease prevention

  • Current or willingness to obtain BLS / CPR / First Aid certification
